Prayers 🙏 for Sudan, & appropriate action where possible

"The LORD is my refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1
:

Since April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in a violent conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). In late October 2025 the RSF captured El Fasher, the last major Darfur city held by the SAF, after an 18‑month siege. The city had been home to roughly 260,000 civilians, about half of them children.

Following the takeover, multiple credible sources document large‑scale atrocities: summary executions, attacks on civilians fleeing the city, detentions of more than 1,000 people, and major violations at hospitals (including the killing of hundreds at a maternity hospital). Satellite imagery also reveals clusters consistent with mass graves and large‑scale killings. Ethnic targeting appears to be a component of the violence, especially against non‑Arab populations in Darfur.

Displacement is massive: tens of thousands of civilians have fled toward nearby towns under extremely difficult conditions and humanitarian agencies warn of famine, lack of medical care, and an expanding humanitarian catastrophe. The UN and rights groups have described the situation as one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, and note that the risk of large‑scale killings is mounting.

In short: El Fasher's fall marks a major shift in the war for Darfur, and the humanitarian, human‑rights, and ethnic implications are severe and ongoing.
